Born on May 17, 1930 , to Henry L. Willis and Mattie Clayton. Doris Brown spent most of her life in Newport News. . A devoted educator, she served as a teacher’s assistant for the Newport News Public School system for 32 years helping to shape the minds of young students and offering support to teachers.
In addition to her work in education Doris also worked in childcare for 15 years where she cared for children with the same nurturing approach.
Doris was an avid traveler . Throughout her life she cherished her many travels particularly her numerous cruises to beautiful destinations.
She is proceeded in death by her mother and father , Mattie Clayton and Henry L. Willis, two brothers , Robert A. Brown and Sylvester Brown , three sisters Georgia Brown Powell, Marie Brown Lewter, and Elouise Brown Kai, she leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Sharilyn “Dolly” Robinson and Gail V. Goble, one grandson , Hayes “Robbie” Robinson III (Lynette), one granddaughter , Kathy M. Brown , five great- granddaughters , Ciara M. Brashear, Che’Kia V. Jackson (Taylor) , Ryan E. Robinson, Tyler L. Robinson and Kyla S. Daniel , five great-great- grandchildren, lifetime best friend, Gwendolyn Vick, and a host of other loving family and friends .
Doris Brown will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family of Doris Brown would like to extended our heartfelt gratitude to Lashaunda Davis for the love, care and ,dedication shown to our loved one. Your kindness and compassion made a meaningful difference in her life and we are forever grateful for the comfort you provided . The family would also like to thank Riverside Family Practice and Riverside Hospice for the care they provided.
