Mrs. Diane Brown Williams, daughter of the late Earl Harding Brown and Viola Marie Ward Brown, departed this life on June 19, 2021, in Newport News, Virginia. Diane was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Joel Elias Spingarn High School with honors and received many awards. During the summer she would work in the recreation field where she would help inner-city children by coordinating trips, playing games and ensuring the safety of the children who always looked forward to seeing Diane. She was an intelligent and personable lady who went on to attend Hampton University and Norfolk State University. Diane also joined the Air Force National Guard in her younger years, where she worked in the nursing program at a military hospital.
Diane leaves behind to mourn her husband Tyrone Williams, four sisters Patricia Brown Stevens (Alexander Jr.), Delores Brown, Debra Drewitt (Carlton) and the late Doris Brown Hill; a brother Earl H. Brown, Jr. (Maurita).; a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law; nieces, Tramaine Wimbush, Melia Brown, Karen McNeal; nephews Alexander Stevens III, Antonio Drewitt, James McNeal V, Tony McNeal, the late Reggie Brown; an uncle Gardner Ward and great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing for Mrs. Williams will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 at St. Johns C.O.G.I.C., 2416 Orcutt Avenue, Newport News, Virginia 23607.
Services will be held immediately following the viewing at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 26, 2021, in the chapel of St. John’s C.O.G.I.C.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
