Collette Allen Johnson was born on November 15, 1959 to the late Harold Allen and Annie Ruth Aiken. She attended Eli Whitney High school in Brooklyn New York. After graduating high school, she was accepted into Hunter College Nursing program. Collette left college early to pursue a career in cosmetology. She worked as a makeup artist for Fashion Fair and Mary Kay cosmetic companies. Collette worked for many different companies in various capacities throughout her life. Collette met then married the love of her life Anthony (Antoine) Johnson in September 2012. In 2016 Collette and Antoine moved to Newport News, Virginia.
Collette was artistic and creative. She loved to write poems to encourage people and to remember the life they lived. She also had a passion for photography. She was lovingly referred to as “Mahogany” (reference to Diana Ross in the movie Mahogany) because of her flair for fashion. She had an easy going personality with a non-judgment characteristic. She was known for being the life of the party which matched her living her life out loud persona. Collette made the most important decision of her life when she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior in 2011. While in Newport News, Virginia, she joined Greater Victory Church and became an active member until her passing.
Collette is survived by her husband Anthony Johnson, her mother Annie Aiken, her one and only son Francisco Allen, daughter-in-love Sedequa Allen, one grandson Justin Allen, one granddaughter Jasmine Allen. Collette also leaves sisters Jacqueline Aiken, Deborah Augustine, Nina McKinney and brothera Harold Allen Jr. and Michael Allen. Nephew Benny Payne, his wife Laneika and great nephew Mekhi Payne will also remember her fondly as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
We are now left cherished memories of how she lived her life. Rest in peace Collette we will surely miss you.
