Christine Marjarie Redcross Ashe was born on Wednesday, May 21, 1930, in Gloucester Virginia to the late Herman and Ethel Redcross. On January 10, 2021 she made a glorious transition into the presence of The Lord. Preceding her death after her parents her sister Evelyn Cook and brother in law Fred Cook.
Christine graduated from Hampton Institute, which is now known as Hampton University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing. She married the late Charles Ashe (FATS) and from this union were two sons, Darryl R. Ashe (Sabrina) and Ramonda Ashe (Tynika).
Christina retired from Riverside Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the surgical unit. At an early age she accepted Christ into her life and joined Emmanuel Baptist Church of Newport News, Virginia. She was a Godly Woman with an extremely big Heart and would do anything to help others.
Puddin as she was so affectionately called loved her children and did the best she could to give them a secure and happy home. She would often cook her famous Pot Roast and sit at her kitchen table and entertained family and friends with stories, advice and wisdom. She was known as “The Original Madea”, because she was never the one to bite her tongue, and traveled with her firearm (smile). She was truly the backbone of her family. She was a loving and kind person who will be greatly missed.
Left to continue her legacy of love are her two children, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grand children, a very special nephew Kevin Cook that she cared for very deeply and a host of relatives and friends.
