Mrs. Beverly J. Roberts

Ms. Beverly Joann Roberts (née Banks), 61, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on August 10, 2025 after an eight year battle with breast cancer.

Born on April 4, 1964, Beverly grew up in Newport News and attended Warwick High School. Following high school, she briefly studied at Thomas Nelson Community College before beginning her lifelong career in retail and customer service. She worked with dedication and determination at several well-known stores, including Hecht’s, Macy’s, and JCPenney, where she touched the lives of coworkers and customers alike.

Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Paulette Goode Banks. She is survived by her father, Thomas Banks Sr.; her two brothers, Thomas Banks and Anthony Banks; and her two sisters, Judy McKoy and Diana McIntyre. Beverly leaves behind her four beloved children, Erika Banks, Elizabeth Freeman, William Roberts III, and Victoria Polk, as well as nine cherished grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Beverly will be remembered for her strong demeanor, unwavering resilience, and determined spirit throughout life’s challenges. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
