Mrs. Alma Brown Newby Obituary

Mrs. Alma L. Brown, 70 entered her celestial eternal portal on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Navicent Medical Hospital in Macon, GA.  Alma was born March 29, 1951 in Newport News, VA., where she graduated from Huntington High School. She attend Job Corp to develop variety of skills in hospitality.  Alma retired from Riverside Regional Hospital with over 25 years in the Human Relations Department in as service specialist.

 

Alma Lavonne Newby, was the oldest of six children with a heart of gold. She was also known as “ Schoolie" by family and friends. She had a million dollar smile that would warm your soul. She was a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and devoted friend too many. Alma was free spirited, unique, loving, caring and full of life. She provide direct responses in humorous conversations with so many. Her favorite quote “ God looks out for babies and fools” which would remain in the hearts of family and friends. She enjoyed dancing, talking her talk and spending time with family. Alma has four beautiful daughters: Treana Newby (Charlotte N.C),Tequietta Newby-Butts (Washington D.C), Ebony Brown (Savannah GA.) Sherrae Brown (Savannah GA.); five loving grandchildren: De’monte Brown, Kabria Brown, Daquan Brown , Taliea Brown and Gabriella Butts.

 

 Alma’s mother “Alma L. Bumpers” passed away several years ago along with her twin sisters Darlene Wilkerson and Charlene Peterson. However, she leaves behind her cherish three siblings: Philip L. Newby, Braxina Bumpers, and Kenya Bumpers and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

A celebration of her life will be held  at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021  New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia 23666.

 

COVID-19 restrictions will be followed. Mask are required.

 

It is the desire of the Brown/Newby family that you would keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
