Mrs. Ada Louise Jones

Mrs. Ada Louise Jones affectionately known as “Ms. Shirley”, “Ms. Nub”, and “Granny Groove”, departed this life on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Ada was born the daughter of Mable Garrett on November 23, 1937, in Enfield, NC.  She is survived by one sister, Gloria D. Jones of Newport News, VA.  Ada was a long time member of Goodwill Baptist Church of Hampton, VA. Ada served God faithfully as a Deaconess, dedicated choir member, as well as serving on various other ministries within Goodwill Baptist Church. Ada was a daycare provider for many years, and later for over twelve years, she worked as a foster grandparent with Aberdeen Elementary School in Hampton, VA.

Ada is predeceased by her husband Rudolph Jones, Sr, one daughter Sheron Barnes and a grandson Jaequan  Mabry. She is survived by five children, Rudolph (Pamela), Sandra (William), Rickey, Carolyn (Quinton) and Michael. She is the grandmother of twelve, the great- grandmother of nine and a great- great- grandmother of three. Ada had a very special lifetime friend Annie Mae Davis and two extended family members, Brenda Robinson and Hazel Eley.

A viewing for Mrs. Ada Louise Jones will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2019, at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.

Services will be held noon Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Gethsemane Baptist Church 5405 Roanoke Ave, Newport News, VA.

Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
