Mr. Winfred Rose, 69, of Newport News Virginia, earned his wings on July 3, 2026.
Winfred was lovingly called “Fred” and was born on July 3, 1957 in Sumter, South Carolina to Theolander and Rose Mell Rose. He grew up in Newport News where he attended Newport News public school system and graduated from Homer L. Ferguson high school in 1975.
Winfred Rose was known for his talent of artistry in drawing and painting. He was a loving brother, uncle, and friend. Fred worked for the city of Newport News - Waste Water Department for 19 years until his health failed. He is a long run survivor of kidney failure and has endured 26 years of dialysis treatments. Through it all, Fred was always upbeat, thankful, and prayerful that he was able to encourage and uplift other patients. Fred kept his numbers up by walking, praying, and enjoying life to the fullest. But, what Fred enjoyed most of all, was to be picked up by his best friend and loving twin brother, Woodrow, who drove him around town every day.
Winfred (Windy) Rose was predeceased by his parents, Theolander and Rose Mell Rose; grandparents, Woodrow and Martha Mae Rose; Sisters, Anya Rose Miller and Sharena Rose. Winfred is survived by his longtime partner, Renae Henderson, along with her daughter Lavonta Jenkins, and grandson Lil D whom he adored. Brothers, Woodrow Rose, Theran Rose (Tina). Sisters, Rebecca Rose Hines, Faythe Mcfadden (Bruce), Helga Rose Stokes (Larry). Nephews, Breion Rose (Shawn), Keylon Mayo (Jentae), Diamond Stokes, D’Angelo Stokes, Theran Rose Jr., and Jalen Rose. Nieces, Chiquita Jefferson, Nikki King, Tia Rose, Bria Rose, and Eleven great nieces and nephews. He also leave to cherish a host of relatives and friends from Sumter, South Carolina and Newport News, Va.
It is the desire of the Rose family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
