Some of his favorite pastimes were sitting on his front porch enjoying his family and friends, along with playing cards with his fellow longshoremen at the Hall. He was also known as an avid walker throughout the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Estelle Jones, his son, Leroy Jones and his brother James Robert Jones.
