Mr. Willie Wright Barnes, 75 formerly of Pinetops, NC passed away on May 3, 2020.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Sessoms and Margaret Barnes Wooten; and his brother, Joe C. Barnes.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy B. Barnes; daughter, Marvelle Barnes-Johnson (Steve); sisters, Catherine Corbert and Geraldine Harrison; brother, George Barnes (Bettye); brothers-in-law, Napolean, Wayne (Pam), Randolph (Magdalene) and Otis Braswell, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Barnetta, Allie and Dianne Braswell; two nieces, one nephew, two great-nieces, two great-nephews, several great-great- nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of spritual brothers and sisters.
Brother Barnes was baptized as one of Jehovah Witness on September 2, 1973. He enjoyed many privileges in Christian congregation in addition to sharing and teaching bible truths to all he met. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. His other passion was cooking, especially his famous chicken BBQ. Brother Barnes never met a stranger and loved showing his comedic side. You were guaranteed to hear " I speaka no English", whenever you asked him to do something that he didn't want to do or you said something he didn't want to hear. He was employed at the N.N. Shipbuilding, City of Newport News, Sears and later retired from Canon in 2009.
Per request of the family services and interment will be scheduled at a later date.
