Mr. William H. Slade Jr.,

Mr. William H. Slade, Jr. passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 90.  He was born on October 31, 1934, to the union of William H. Slade, Sr. and Florence Banks in Newport News, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Slade; four sons, William H. III – “PooPoo”, Leon, Mark and Michael; one daughter, Linda; three sisters, Lucille Davis– “Pie”, Barbara Wynder – “Annie”, and Eva Hodge – “LuLu”; and his brother Albert Slade. 

Affectionately known as, “Nick Boy, Nick & Uncle Nick”, grew up in a loving home with his 5 siblings in Newport News where he attended school. Nick Boy was introduced to the Lord and baptized in his teenage years. In his young adult life, he met and married Shirley, had a family and became a resident of Washington, DC.  

In 2011, he returned to Hampton, VA to be with family. While residing with his sister Barbara, he maintained the yard, house plants and other small maintenance stuff. He was a die-hard fan of the Washington Red Skins; however, he didn’t want to accept that they are now the Washington Commanders. He enjoyed car rides, strawberry smoothies, cooking beans, watching scary movies in the dark, and western tv shows. Most of all, his enjoyment was a visit from family, getting a haircut and buying his scratch tickets.  

Nick Boy will forever be in our hearts. 

Left to cherish his memories is a brother, Linwood Slade; sisters-in-law, Blendell and Linda Slade; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, grandniece(s) and nephew(s).  

It is the desire of the Slade family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
