Mr. William Dickens Obituary

William Henry Dickens, a beloved father, brother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on June 22, 2026, at his home in the Spratley House in Newport News, Virginia. Born on March 20, 1958, William brought warmth and dependable spirit into the world that remained with him throughout his 68 years of life.

William was a man of simple pleasures and deep passions, none greater than his love for football. From his youth playing on the high school gridiron to his years spent cheering loudly for his favorite team, the Miami Dolphins, football was a vital part of his life. That same enthusiasm and dedication carried over into his professional life. William served his community faithfully as a custodian for both the Newport News and Hampton school systems. He took immense pride in his work, consistently earning excellent performance ratings and the respect of his colleagues. More than his work ethic, William was known for his massive heart. He was a loyal confidant who never hesitated to lift up a friend in need.

William was preceded in death by his loving mother, Carrie Lee Dicken-Killebrew; his father, Jimmy Joe Williams; his three brothers, Perry Ford, Charles Smith, and Tony Dickens; and his three sisters, Shirley Killebrew, Francine Williams, and just recently  Diane Ford.

His legacy of love and kindness will be forever cherished by his devoted son, Paris Robinson, and his three stepchildren, Tracey Senica, Patricia Jackson, and Donna Griffin. He leaves behind to celebrate his life his sister, Loraine Williams; two brothers, George Dicken (along with his wife, Bobby Sue) and Joseph Killebrew (along with his wife, Tonia); and his god-brother, Tracey Whitten. William’s memory will also be held dear by a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. He will be truly and deeply missed, but his bright spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

It is the desire of the Dickens family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
