Mr. Wilbert P. Scott, Jr. was born in Hampton, Virginia March 5, 1945, to Ruth E. Scott and Wilbert P Scott, Sr. He graduated from George P. Phenix High School and begin his career with The Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock company where he remained for 44 years. Wilbert Scott united with UCOG on 24 Jul.1983. He was the president of the Male chorus, he was president of the Brotherhood, the president of the Usher Board, a Trustee, and the church janitor. He accomplished interior and exterior repairs to the building, also church parking lot, and lawn maintenance on Teach St.
Wilbert and Emma Lyon-Scott were married, December 19, 1987. He was a loving, caring and devoted husband. Proverbs 18:22 states "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing." Wilbert always stated he thanked God for Emma. He had the best; a good wife, a valuable treasure, and something to be cherished.
Wilbert was preceded in death by parents Ruth and Wilbert P. Scott, Sr., his son Jeffery Scott, daughter Charmin Scott, his stepbrother, Sammie Brown, brother, James Scott, and sisters in-law Patricia Scott and Barbara Bracey-Scott.
Wilbert is survived by his son, Anthony Banks (wife, Michelle Banks), Atlanta Georgia, stepson, David Lee Lyon, stepdaughters, Deanna Boone, Lisa (Terence) Burnette, Hampton, VA and Tracy Mitchell of, MD, sister Denise Britt (Lawrence), brother Jonathan Scott, stepmother Rose Scott, stepsister Catherine Scott, sisters-in-law Cutee Bradshaw, Lillie Mae (Wayne Winnegan, Shirley Perkins and Joanne Person).
Also left to cherish his memory is his dear friend and brother in Christ, Deacon Ashton Brown.
It is the desire of the Scott/Burnett families that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
