Mr. Tyrone Gayles

Mr. Tyrone Mitchell Gayles, 71, entered into eternal rest with his lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Newport News, Virginia.

Tyrone was born to the late Harold Ellis and Jeanetta Stephenson in Newport News, Virginia. He received his formal education in the Newport News Public School System and enlisted into the Marines at the age of seventeen. Tyrone served in the marines until an injury in the Vietnam War caused him to be discharged on medical leave. He received high honors as well as a Purple Heart upon departing.

After hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ, Tyrone made a conscious decision to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Hallelujah!

Tyrone truly loved his family! He loved to write poetry and music. Tyrone also loved watching tv, his most favorite was comedy and action movies. He would give you the shirt off his back & his very last, he had a heart of gold. Tyrone will be greatly missed!

Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents; Harold Ellis and Jeanetta Stephenson, brothers; Kenneth “Chubby” Gayles and Stanley Gayles, sisters; Carol Dixon and Deborah “Dee Dee” Gayles.  Left to cherish warm memories are his two children, daughter Elton-Jeanetta Gayles, and son Tyrone Christian Gayles, and grandson; Christian Gayles-Love.  Also left to cherish are four brothers, Karl (Ernestine), Phillip (Carolyn), Calvin (Michelle) Gayles and Theodore (Karen) Stephenson, sisters, Shenna (Garry) Kates, Chandra (Erick) Claud, Sadeanna Gayles and Kara Stephenson. Additionally, Tyrone is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other neighborhood friends.
