The Life & Legacy of
Bro. Terry Fitchett
Brother Terry Fitchett was born on August 27, 1960, in Newport News, Virginia to the late Frederick W. Fitchett Sr and the late Catherine E. Fitchett.
All of Terry’s younger years growing up were spent with his family and friends, enjoying life. Spending time with his siblings made school time a breeze. School time was important and so was church. Sunday school, summer vacation, Bible school was a must to help lay the foundation for his spiritual growth. Upon graduating from the Newport News Public School System, Terry accepted a job with the Colonial Grocery Store chain in Newport News.
With a new founded skill, Terry decided to blossom out from his hometown and relocate to the Northern Virginia area. There he acquired a position with the Food Lion Corporation. Terry’s dedication to his job allowed him to receive many, many service awards and certificates of accomplishment. He received many awards and citations which included: training as Assistant Dry Manager-Bloom, certificate of Achievement for completion from the Delhaize Group Guide for Ethical Business Conduct, Outstanding Associate, Food Lion Inc., and an Assistant Manager Management Succession Program. He had a 38 year tenure with Food Lion Corporation.
While achieving recognition from an employer for a job well done, Terry never forgot The United House of Prayer for All People. It did not matter where he was in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC. or the Maryland area he would visit the nearest House of Prayer for worship.
Brother Fitchett’s dedication was evident to his job until his final hour where he demised.
Brother Terry Fitchett was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother Frederick W. Fitchett, Jr; He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his precious memories, seven brothers, John Fitchett, Anthony Fitchett, Lawrence Fitchett, Steve O.
