On January 6, 2021, our beloved Rudy Dupont Wilkins went to sleep, to rest in the peaceful arms of Jesus. Rudy was born at Dixie hospital, Hampton Va. January 16, 1968. Rudy was baptized at Shalom Baptist Church at the age of 13. We moved to Denbigh and Rudy became a member of New Beech Grove Baptist Church. Upon moving to Denbigh, he met his best friend Rob Williams, those two were like brother’s inseparable. Robs mom, Madeline would discipline them to no end, they were very adventurous, but they were good boys.
When they got old enough to drive that is when the problems begin. Madeline would call looking for Rob, they were past their curfew. When they returned home, they always had an alibi “we were at Lars, Peter and Scott Olson house swimming or on the boat. One night they wrecked Madeline’s car it was on then. Madeline fussed until she couldn’t fuss no more. Rudy and Rob got jobs together, and that was a joke, they were inseparable. In addition, when Rudy’s sister got married, they were groomsmen, they started down the aisle rolling out the carpet both pulling the string while halfway running, the string broke , they looked at each other and laugh. Rob you were truly his brother, you truly loved and stuck by him unconditionally. Rob you have been like my son, and I love you forever.
Rudy attended Newport News public schools, he was a track star, at Menchville High where he won the state title. He was awarded a track scholarship to Hampton University Rudy was fun loving and a very humorous person. He always had a joke that would hurt your stomach. He enjoyed his life until sickness took over his body, eleven years ago.
Rudy was a project manager at MCI WorldCom, where he met his devoted wife Eileen. They became the best of friends, inseparable for 25 years. Rudy was blessed with 3 handsome little boys, Lonay, Tony, and Jermaine, 6 grandkids. Rudy was preceded in death by his fatherRudolph D. Wilkins Sr. he is survived by his wife Eileen and mother, Edith Jeanette Hill, sisters Karen Wilkins Cochran, Shalema McGhee Hill, Uncle Norman Hill (Betty)’and his God mother Mittie W. Dixon
