Mr. Ronald Mason (Monk) of Hampton, VA was called home February 26, 2026. Born on July 29, 1951 in Newport News, VA Ronald lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, and devotion to family and community. He grew up in Hampton, VA and educated in Newport New, VA and worked as a painter. Through dedication and quiet determination, Ronald built not only a successful career but also lasting friendships and meaningful connections.
Above all, Ronald cherished family. He is survived by wife Janice Mason, four children; Jacqueline Jones of Newport News, VA, Cassandra Johnson (Perry) of Raeford, NC, Kenneth Allen of Hampton, VA and Ronald Allen of Newport News, VA; 8 grandchildren; Jamar Jones of Newport News, VA, Perry Johnson Jr. (Kia) of Mosely, VA, Paris Stewart (Wofton) of Fort Sill, OK, Lanelle and Danyelle Jones of Hampton, VA, Perryn Johnson of Raeford, NC, Ciara McMillan of Whiteville, NC and Rashaun Allen of Hampton, VA; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers; Richard Mason of Tacoma, WA and James Heath (Mitchelle) of Newport News, VA; four sisters; Carol Rodgers (Dean), Linda Shepard (Demond), Michelle Jones (Shawn) of Newport News, VA and Pamela Holmes (Anthony) of Hephzibah, GA; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by great grandson Blaze Stewart; his mother Christine Finley, brother Michael Mason and sister Barbara Hatchette.
Known for his warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering support for others, Ronald found joy in life’s simple pleasures – being outdoors, family gatherings, painting, sports, faith, and music. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the years we shared and the memories that will remain with us always. Ronald’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
