Mr. Ronald Jarman Obituary

Ronald Pierre Jarman peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 29, 2025, after a courageous and faith-filled battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born on June 11, 1956, in Warwick County (Newport News), Virginia, Ronald was the eighth child of the late Theodore J. Jarman, Sr. and Julia Nancy Jarman.

From a young age, Ronald’s life was rooted in faith and family. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life, a decision that would shape his walk for decades to come. He was baptized at Wesley Grove United Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor G. Wesley Rainey III. Ronald’s gift for music quickly became evident, and he served faithfully in the music ministry, blessing many with his powerful Sunday morning solos. He continued to serve and worship through music at Judah Tabernacle (New Grace Church) and later at Scott’s Revival Center, under the leadership of Dr. Evelyn Square, in Franklin, Virginia. Whether singing or playing his beloved bongo drums, Ronald worshiped God with his whole heart.

Ron was educated in the Newport News Public Schools, attending Newsome Park and Walter Reed Elementary Schools and graduating from Warwick High School in 1974. There, his love for music and rhythm earned him recognition among his peers. After high school, he joined Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, but his heart for people led him into the hair industry. He honed his skills at the Virginia School of Hair Design and later became a master barber and instructor at Anthony’s Barber College. As an educator, he trained countless aspiring barbers and cosmetologists, always encouraging excellence and creativity.

A lifelong learner and dedicated mentor, Ronald eventually joined the Newport News Public School System, teaching in classrooms at Newsome Park, Dunbar Elementary, and Huntington Middle School. Later, he served as a security guard, retiring with over 40 years of distinguished service. He was admired by students and colleagues alike for his warmth, wisdom, and ability to make everyone feel seen and valued.

Ron’s passions extended beyond his profession. He was known for his exceptional culinary skills, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering devotion to family. His legacy is one of faith, music, education, and love—values he lived out daily in service to others.

One of Ronnie’s greatest desires was to become a father, something he truly enjoyed. From his first union with Jennifer Hare, he was blessed with two daughters, Myia and Kayla, whom he adored. With his second marriage to Kendra Square-Jarman, he was blessed with five boys: Ke’An, Kaleb, Karson, Kameron, and Kayden. In his later days, Ronnie was blessed with a grandson, Kasen. Ronnie truly enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with his family.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Julia Jarman; two brothers, Edmond M. Jarman and Jonathan L. Jarman; and one sister, Joanetta Jarman.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith in those who survive him: his beloved Kendra Square Jarman; two cherished daughters, Myia and Kayla; five cherished sons, Ke’An, Kaleb, Karson, Kameron, and Kayden; one treasured grandson, Kasen; three brothers, Theodore J. Jarman Jr. (Lavern), Bernard Jarman (Delcher), and Kenneth L. Jarman Sr. (Jocie); two loving sisters, Rosalyn Green (Julius) and Donna Williams (Johnnie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, and dear friends who will forever remember his generous spirit.
