Mr. Roger Easter Obituary

Roger Alexander Easter, was born November 24, 1944 in Newport News, Virginia to Roosevelt Easter and Florence Price Easter.  Roger was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 3rd after a short illness in Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Roger attended Huntington High School where he received his high school diploma in 1964.  After high school, Roger worked for the Newport News Shipyard and served in management positions for the following supermarkets: Rich’s, Giants Open Air, Farm Fresh and Walmart (where he retired as the manager of the dairy department).

Roger enjoyed being around people and having conversations with them.  Many times, he would have in-depth conversations with his trusted neighbors LaVar and Matthew.  Several times people would often stop and tell me and/or my brothers “they didn’t know Mr. Roger was your father and he was such a friendly person.”  Our father had a nice smile and would often greet you with a warm welcoming message.  One of his passions was cooking his famous Sunday dinners (such as turkey wings and neck bones) as well as watching his favorite team “The New York Giants” play football.

Roger is pre-deceased in death by his parents Roosevelt & Irene Easter, brothers Bruce Price, Roosevelt Easter, Ernest Easter, James Easter, & Joshua “Leon/Winky” Easter and special friend, Patricia Bailey.  He leaves to cherish his precious daughter, Rhelda Bynum, Upper Marlboro, MD, son-in-law Mark Bynum, Beach Park, IL, dutiful sons Christopher Easter & Demetrius Bailey, Newport News, VA, bonus sons Anthony Bailey & Timothy Easter, Newport News, VA, his loving sister, Irene Nesmith, brother-in-law Samuel “Rocky” Nesmith, grandson Richard Wilson, Jr., great-grandsons Fazir Wilson & Zion Wilson-Stewart as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

It is the desire of the Easter family that you would keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
