Mr. Robert L. Hughes Jr.

Robert L. Hughes Jr. of Hampton Virginia passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was being held as he passed at home. Born on December 20, 1964 in Eden, North Carolina he was proceeded in death by his father, Robert L. Hughes Sr., his sister Sandra Skaggs, brother-in-law Robert Skaggs, and his beloved daughter Angela Nelson and nephew Jesse Skaggs. 

Robert is survived by his mother Elizabeth Hughes sister, Lorinda Hughes, Aunt Rhonda Moxley. Daughter Laura Nelson. Daughter Ashley Jarrell and grandchildren Elizabeth, Aiden and Olivia. Daughter Haley Milton and husband Denver Milton, grandchildren Kristina, Logan and Fiona. Sons Michael Hughes and grandson Nicholas, Matthew Hughes and wife Emily, grandchildren Benjamin and Winona. Nephews Jeremy, Bo, Brandon, Christian and Kyle, niece Crystal Donnie, and grandniece Tiana Brown, special friend Nancy, and dog Lucky. 
Robert was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and was willing to help anyone. He was a great artist and could build anything with his hands. He took pride in being the Easter bunny for Buckroe Baptist church and spoke often of this . He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Tina Gockley, Theresa Brinson, Bill Denney and his nurse Meredith who made his last days filled with love and support.

Also to CC Carter Funeral Home and the minister and family of Buckroe Baptist Church for the love and help shown to him. Funeral services will be held on 2/21/2026 at 1:30pm at Buckroe Baptist Church.
