Known as Tap Daddy, Big Spender, Big Ray, Ray Alphonso Bristow died May, 2022 in his sleep at his home 373 Leeland Avenue, Hampton, Virginia. He retired in 1984 as a Merchant Marine and traveled all over the world. Born September 1, 1935 to Mary and Alphonso in Apex, North Carolina, he attended Huntington High School. Having served in the Vietnam War, he is survived by a daughter, Antoinette Crawley Gray; a brother who took care of him until his death, Marshall Bristow (Margaret); his baby brother Darcy; a younger sister Patricia Bristow, and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Some of his favorite sayings were, " We go have big fun!" "The same thing make you laugh, make you cry!" There will be no formal service for him.
Marshall Bristow wishes to thank all the nurses, nursing home staff, nursing assistants and the Hampton Veteran's Association who helped take care of his oldest brother.
