God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be, so He wrapped his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.” A golden heart stopped beating, and hardworking hands laid at rest. We tearfully watched you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain. You didn’t deserve what you went through, so He lifted you to rest. God’s home must be beautiful; He only takes the best. We love you dearly but could not make you stay. Although, it broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day the Lord Jesus Christ greeted you; and welcomed you home.
On Sunday, July 24, 2022, Preston Negene Adams was peacefully accompanied by angels as he transitioned from earth to heaven to be with the Lord.
Preston, well-known to many as the “Doctor of Cars,” Butch, and most importantly Daddy, was born on September 09, 1945 (One of Eight Children) to the late Prestley William Adams and the late Audrey Molly Patrick-Adams in Nathalie, Virginia. He completed his education through the Halifax County School System.
Preston began his journey into adulthood with evolving love for the outdoors as he assisted his father as a farmer caring for the many acres of family land. He then moved to New York City, where he acquired his love of the Automobile industry. He initially worked as a mechanic while attaining the knowledge required to become an automobile company owner with over 55 years of experience unique to selling and fixing any make or model vehicle. Preston called his business a one-stop shop. He never considered his job work and would always say, “If you love what you do, then it will provide you passion and the drive to be great.” He continued to work even after retirement until the day God called him home.
Preston’s profound faith in God taught him the ability to plant many seeds of wisdom which he shared daily through his love and service to others.
He was preceded in death by his Son Jensen Eugene Adams and Four of his brothers, Illustrious Adams, Earl Adams, Rodger Adams, and William Adams.
His memories are cherished by his Significant other of 37 loving years, Goldie Pettaway of Newport News, VA. Sister, Eloise Dale Adams of Nathalie, VA. Brothers, Curtis Adams of Nathalie, VA, and Larry Adams of Alexandria, VA. Children from eldest to youngest-Daughter Janet Marie Jennings of Alexandria, VA, Son Presley Adams of Atlanta, GA, Daughter Dr. Chantél Derise Dixon of Chesapeake, VA, and Son Shane Lee Adams of Atlanta, GA, 9 Grandchildren, 3 Great grandchildren, a host of nieces among them a devoted Niece Jessica Ann Walker of Chesapeake, VA, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and innumerable friends.
Daddy, your life is a blessing. Your memory will be a treasure. You are loved, beyond words and already missed beyond measure.
I never left you; I watch you every day. I am always very near. I know deep in your heart you realize I am here. I watch you while you sleep in your bed at home. I hear you; when you speak to me; when you are on your own. You cannot understand the reason why I have gone. I will never leave you. I am here to keep you strong. Talk to me; I hear you. Though you may not see me, we share an unbroken bond that will always be. Death will not keep us apart, for our love is forever. Just remember me in your heart. One day we will be together. Live your life and live it fully, don’t waste a single day. Remember, I am always with you every step of the way. Love you More, Daddy!
A special thank you to all for your expressions of love, kindness, and support. Your continued prayers have provided us with unwavering comfort during this time.
We deeply appreciate; and most sincerely thank the Doctors, Pharmacists, and Nurses who expeditiously went above and beyond to provide care for Dad during his time of need. We will forever be grateful.
