Mr. Peter Jenkins

Mr. PETER JENKINS, a resident of Hampton, Virginia entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 6, 2020. Peter was born in Montgomery, Alabama on November 28, 1943 to Bertha Lee Jenkins and Walter Jenkins.

In the early sixties, Peter left Alabama and moved to Virginia. He trusted on the Lord to lead and guide him. In 1963, at a tent revival, he gave his life to Christ. He joined the St. Johns Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Samuel L. Green, Jr. He loved is church and his church family. He was active and enjoyed being on the Usher Board, Security Team and drove the Sunday School bus. He is most remembered for running the elevator at the church.

In 1965, he married Carolyn Harrell, the love of his life. They were blessed to have two children: Angela Michelle Jenkins and Keith Bernard Jenkins. He was a hard worker and dedicated man working to provide for his growing family. He started working for the City of Hampton in the Sanitation Department. In 1973, he started working for the Government at Ft. Monroe in the Transportation Department. He worked for 21 years.

Peter is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; his brothers, Albert, Frank and Jessie Jenkins and his sister, Ruth Mitchell; and the now deceased brother, Willie Jenkins.

He is survived by his daughter, Evangelist Angela Jenkins; sons, Keith Jenkins and Robert Lee Jenkins; brother, Nathaniel (Patricia); brothers-in-law, Willie Mitchell (Elsie), Robert Harrell (Bobbie Jean), Clarence Harrell and Raymond Harrell; sisters-in-law, Audrey Chapman, Janette Mason and Magaline Wyche; grandchildren, Dion Kee, “TT” Kee and Kavon'e Kee, “TJ” Lester, Tija Lester and Troy Lester, Toney Bowers, Evan Badgett and Eric Ciavola; great grandson, Joshia Kee; goddaughters, Dr. Cecilia Hardy (Rev. Clinton), Rachael Kee, Stacey Houston, Valerie Jones and Dianne Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Viewing for Mr. Jenkins will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 13, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. With no more than 10 individuals at any one time.

Graveside services for Mr. Jenkins are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 at Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Masks are required and practice social distancing
