Mr. Percy Chisman

Mr. Percy Chisman, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2025. Born on May 18, 1948, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Percy Chisman, Sr. and Alice Chisman, he was educated in the York County Public School System.

Percy dedicated many years of faithful service to the York County School System, retiring in 2011 as a Janitorial Supervisor. Known for his strength, determination, and a little bit of stubbornness, Percy was a man who believed in hard work and family. He was a husband, proud father of five, loving brother, and caring uncle to many.

In his leisure time, Percy enjoyed watching wrestling and could often be found throwing horseshoes with friends and family. His humor, honesty, and no-nonsense personality will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Chisman; his brothers, Robert, Lenard, and Vernie Chisman; and his sister, Constance Danvers.

Cherishing his memory are his sister, Virginia Pierce; children, Jacquelyn Chisman, Henderson Chisman (Shelly), Barbara Chisman, Darrion Chisman (Latita), and Norita Levis (Samuel, Jr.); 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

It is the desire of the Chisman family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The family of Mr. Percy Chisman  has entrusted his final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
