Mr. Patrick Hewett Jr. Obituary

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, our “Beloved Patrick”, My Precious Lion returned back to his Loving Creator and transitioned into his new life in “God’s Glorious Kingdom”!  On March 7, 1999, the world was given a handsome, kind and beautiful spirited “Gift” - Patrick McWanza Hewett, Jr.!  Patrick, Jr. was born in Newport News, VA to the late Patrick Hewett, Sr. and Minister Mary Cherry-Hewett.  And, what a “Miracle and Precious Bundle of Joy” he was!

In Patrick, Jr’s early years at the tender age of seven on April 7, 2006 he went down the Church aisle at River of Life Baptist Church (now Spirit of Life Christian Church), Hampton, VA and requested to Pastor Reginald Lee to be baptized and saved by “JESUS”, in which he was baptized, April 14, 2006, becoming a Soldier of Christ!  Patrick, Jr. also received teaching, training, guidance and growth under the Pastoral Leadership of Pastor Donnette Mills at Family Light Baptist Church, Newport News, VA and received his Evangelist License under the teachings of Bishop C. Vernie Russell, Jr. at Mount Carmel Missionary School of Evangelism, Norfolk, VA in 2010, at the age of 9 years old, graduating at the top of his class.

He started his education at the youthful age of 3 at Faith Outreach Christian Academy, Hampton, VA until he transferred to Cooper Magnet Elementary School at the age of 6, then went on to Eaton Middle School from grades 6 - 8 and went on to graduate from Hampton High School, “Home of the Crabber’s”, June 17, 2017.  Patrick, Jr. went on to attend Thomas Nelson Community College (now Virginia Peninsula Community College).  He also played for the Boys and Girls Club of Hampton, VA, with the Kappa Cardinals Little League Football Team.

Before his transitioning, Patrick, Jr. was presented with an opportunity to be in business with his God-Brother, Samuel Fields, Jr. in starting their own Landscaping Lawn Care Business, starting the first week of March 2025, with many contracts already obtained, looking to do great work together and acquire many more customers.  They were so excited to begin this journey together!  And, I was so proud of the two of them and their desire to venture into business together, to help each other grow and service others with great and beautiful Lawn Care.

My Lion was a sweet respectful and humble young man with a servant heart that was always willing to help others.  He has now joined his father, Patrick, Sr., his Maternal Grandparents, Mr. James and Mrs. Bessie Cherry; his Paternal Grandmother, Mrs. Virginia Hewett; his Beloved Uncles, James Cherry, Jr., Alexander Ruffin, Lutrell Cherry and his UncleDad, Marcus Hewett.

Those who loved Patrick, Jr so much and were Blessed to have known him, embraced him and will cherish the many beautiful memories of him are “Lion’s”: Mother, Minister Mary Cherry-Hewett, Sister Jasmine Cook, Nephew Curtis Artis, Jr Grandfather Mr. Perry Hewett, UncleDad James Cherry, CuzBro Maurick Hewett, CuzSis Marlasia Hewett, Uncle Jody Harden; Aunts: Yvonne Cooper (Sylvester), Darnella Fuller, PaQuita Cherry, Brandi Dennis, Alvina Hunt, Tina Reed-Hewett and Deborah Walker; Special Great Uncle and Aunts: Mr. William Earl and Mrs. Gladys Hewett and Mrs. Patricia Fulwood,; God Uncle and Aunt: Mr. Reginald and Mrs. Christine Charity; Special Cousins: Khorea Hunt and Tanya Neal; his Lady of Love - Shakenah Davis and Little Buddy - Damariah Scott (Lil’ Ma); God-Parents: Pops - Mr. Maurice Lockett, Mr. Michael, Sr. and Mrs. Dale Lewis; God-Brothers: Samuels Fields, Jr. and Darryl Crain; God-Sisters: Lisa Jemison, Korie Williams, Ebony Alston, Shannon Tooten and Stacey Harden; his Comrades: Caleb “Geesh” Russell, Da’Quon “Panther” Mason and Cureem “Jaguar” Wilson; Dr. Patricia Geyer Wessler, whom he loved and trusted dearly.  He also leaves, many other relatives and friends that will cherish his memories.
