Mr. Ocie L. Goode

Mr. Ocie L. Goode transitioned on Wednesday, May 06, 2020 at Coliseum Convalescent and Rehab Center, in Hampton, Virginia.  

He was born on June 11, 1941 to the late Willie L. Goode, Jr. and Bertha Peterson Goode in Chesterfield County, VA.  

Ocie worked for Newport News Shipbuilding for a number of years before leaving and worked for a devoted employer, George Knight and Environmental Service, until his health began to fail.  In his spare time, he loved watching horse races and going to Colonial Downs.

He was preceded in death by his son, Darryl Arness Baugh, two sisters, Augustine Jones and Myrtle Cosby, and brother, Willie L. Goode.  

Ocie leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted companion, Lucy Hurley, who referred to him as, “Her Boo”; two granddaughters, Ebony S. Jackson of Richmond, VA, Daryen S. Baugh of  Chester, VA; two sisters, Elva Goode Washington of Hampton, VA, and Emma “Pollie” Good Turner of Camden, NJ; five grandchildren, Izrell A. Williams, Thomaz S. Nicholson, Mi’Aylaa Connor, Mariyah Jackson, Elijah Jackson; six nieces, nine nephews; and a host of great nieces and nephews, relatives, cousins and friends. 

We would like to give a special, “Thank You” to Lucy’s daughter, LaToya “Bunny” Hurley, who tended to Ocie’s medical affairs, until his demise.  We appreciate all that you have done.

Due to CDC restrictions on social distancing, a memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.

It is the desire of the Goode family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
