Michael "Big Mike" Collins born on October 20, 1976 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Carolyn and Conwell Collins. He was the youngest of four children. Michael attended Middlesex County Public Schools and was a graduate of New Brunswick High School.
In 2002 Michael relocated to Hampton, VA to join family. He later attended Tidewater Tech Trade School to become a certified automotive technician. He went on to open his own automotive business, Total Care Car Repair.
Michael accepted Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized, and united with Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jerome Barber. His favorite praise and worship song was I’m Blessed.
Michael had a heart of gold. He was a true and dedicated friend. He loved spending time with his family. He could always be counted on to help set up for the family events and gatherings he cherished attending, where he would talk sports and have fun. Those who knew Michael—even just a little—knew he was an avid sports enthusiast and, in particular, a lifelong, fanatical Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was an even bigger, more ardent supporter and fan of his cousins who played various college and professional sports. He was always proud of them.
Michael especially enjoyed spending time with the love of his life—his daughter, Kai. He was a wonderful father. His daughter was the highlight of his life. He was the best Dad a little girl could ask for and was an amazing co-parent to his daughter’s mother Tierra Winder.
On Sunday, October 11, 2020, the Master beckoned Michael to eternal rest—his assignments here on Earth were finished. Michael provided a donor gift of his internal organs, which will potentially save the lives of many people.
Michael leaves to cherish fond memories: his daughter, Kai Winder; his parents, Conwell Collins and Carol Collins; one sister, Kimberly (Patrick) Perkins; two brothers, Anthony Collins and Tyrone Collins; maternal grandparent, Robert L. Watford; aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews, a host of cousins, other relatives and extended families.
