Mr. McRoy Hardy was born to Luella and Curtis Hardy on July 15, 1941 in Supply, NC. McRoy grew up in the Supply and Bolivia North Carolina area and moved at an early age with his parents to Aberdeen Gardens in Hampton, Virginia. He and his brothers would caddy for golfers and play in their boy band called “The Playboys” when they were not in school. McRoy affectionately known as “Mack” to everyone, met the love of his life Lucy May and married her in March 1963 and began a family.
McRoy graduated from Y.H. Thomas High School and went on to graduate later in life with an Associate Degree in Automotive and 11 Certificates from Thomas Nelson Community College. Mack was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding for 20 years as a Welder and Inspector and later employed by Thomas Nelson Community College where he finally retired after another 20 years of service as a Plant Services Engineer.
McRoy leaves behind his wife of 60 years together Lucy May Hardy, one son Victor Hardy, and two daughters Anita Hardy and Lisa Hardy, Isaiah Hardy (Shih Tzu pet grandchild), two brothers Ivory L. Hardy and James Hardy, one sister Ida Ruth Gaines, a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, fellow Dallas Cowboy football fans, friends and neighbors to cherish the warm loving memories of life together.
Services for Mr. Hardy will be held 1:00p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at C. C. Carter Funeral Home. Inc. by Dr. Christopher C. Carter Sr.,
