Mr. Maurice Doctor

As you celebrate the setting of my sun, may you always remember the times we've shared and the memories that we've made. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus. I want each of you to remember my smile, which was as bright as the stars in the sky. Remember my laughter, which was like the beautiful sound of ocean water. Through all the pain and suffering, remember the joy that I brought into your lives.

 A child is a beautiful gift from God Almighty. On March 25, 1967, to Lillie Mae Doctor and Olin Doctor, a handsome baby boy was born. Yes, Maurice Doctor made his grand entrance into the world, debuting as the patriarch of the family.  From his birth until his demise, he lived out the true meanings of a family patriarch. He was affectionately known to his family and friends as “Chico”

 God created an amazing son, brother, nephew, and friend, who left a memorable impression on each life that he touched.

Maurice was educated in the public school system of Charleston County and was a graduating member of Bonds Wilson High School Class of 1986.  Over 28 years ago Maurice left Charleston searching for a better life, so he migrated to Newport News, Virginia. Most people desire success in life, and they define it in various ways. However, the pinnacle of success is to hear the welcome voice of the Lord say, “WELL DONE.” Maurice took to heart, Ecclesiastes 9:10 — “Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might.” Maurice used this guiding scripture and became a self-made successful entrepreneur. If you knew Maurice, you knew that he was always willing to offer his help and opinions to others. He was a die heart Pittsburg Steeler’s fan. His motto in life was, “If I can help someone along the way, then my life would not be in vain.” He loved life and lived it to its fullest. God’s plans are not always our plans. When the angels came for Maurice on January 20, 2022, it was much sooner than we planned, but we’ll brave the grief that comes and try to understand.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Charlitta Knightnor Doctor on September 3, 2011.

Those left to cherish fond memories and carry on his legacy: wife, Charlitta Knightnor Doctor; five children, Tierra Nichole Davis, Shadora Hoard, Kemaun Doctor, Maurice Doctor Jr., and Kasanti Doctor; mother, Lillie Mae Doctor (special friend, Finnie Major); father, Olin Doctor; sisters and brothers, Maureen Doctor, Oramae Doctor (Stevie Bryant), Montreal Doctor; brother in love and best friend, Dwayne Crawford; grandchildren, T’Andra Ward, Taylor Green, Noah Steadman, and Teighan Lewis; niece, Raquita S. T. Flemming; nephews, Leonard Doctor, Deandre Broughton Jr., Quadarius Venning; stepson, Rakeem Jarmar Purdie (preceded in death); and a plethora of cousins, aunts, uncles, family members, and friends.

It is the desire of the Doctor family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
