Mr. Lindbergh Sessoms Obituary

Deacon Lindbergh Sessoms was born in Bertie County, North Carolina to the late Oscar and Cora Sessoms,

He worked at Newport News Shipbuilding (formerly Newport News Shipyard & Drydock Compay) in Newport News, Virginia where he retired after 35 years of service.

On October 1, 1955, Lindbergh married the love of his life, Bernice Winborne Sessoms.  He was a loving and devoted husband for fifty-two years. They had one daughter and have two sons.

He was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church East End for over 50 years and served on the Deacon Board.  Deacon Sessoms recently moved his membership to Gates of Praise Church, Inc. in Hampton, Virginia.

Deacon Sessoms (affectionately known as Uncle Lindbergh) was always willing and ready to lend a helping hand with generosity and a loving heart.

Deacon Sessoms was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Cora Sessoms, his wife of fifty-two ears Deaconess Bernice W. Sessoms, his siblings Clifton, Mildred, Annie, Bessie, Wayland, Velma and Joyce and one daughter Deryl L. Sessoms.  Left to cheris his memories, good humor and kindness are his two sons, Andre' Sessoms (Robyn) of Jacksonville, Florida, Derrick Sessoms of Newport News,Virginia ; two grandsons D'Angelo Sessoms of Hampton, Virginia and Jeremy Sessoms of Jacksonville, Florida; two granddaughters, Jessika Sessoms and Janelle Sessoms of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister Helen Artis (Lee); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, extended church family and friends.

 

Viewing for Mr. Sessoms will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM at C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.

 

A graveside service will be held for Mr. Sessoms Monday, September 20, 2021 at  noon at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton,VA. Masks and social distancing are required.

 

The Sessoms family request that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
