Leon Milton Whitehead, beloved family member, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026 at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation in Suffolk, VA.
Leon was born July 1, 1964 to Alice Whitehead and Leon Braxton. When he was young, Leon lived in Newport News, VA where he graduated from Ferguson High School.
In 1981 he joined the United States Marines. Leon served this country until he was Honorably Discharged in 1988.
Leon was employed by Teledyne Hastings for 35 years as a Machinist until his illness. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Leon is survived by step siblings Sonya Diggs, Wanda Pope-Knight and a host of cousins and friends who will remember him for his quiet demeanor, his love of family gatherings and the Washington Redskins/Commanders.
Military honors for Mr. Whitehead will follow services in the Chapel.
