Mr. Larry Chapman Obituary

Larry Von Dwight Chapman was trasitioned to his heavenly home on December 31, 2019. He was born to the late Thomas Henry and Catherine Workman Chapman. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Danny and Williard Chapman. Larry was born on Febuary 18, 1950 in Newport News, VA. The family moved to Hampton (Phoebus), VA when he was two years old. He attended Hampton Public Schools.

 

Larry was a veteran of the United States Navy and a Vietnam veteran. Later, he became a seaman with the Military Sealift Command traveling to many states and countries. He enjoyed his travels and life. Larry also held other jobs after retiring from being a seaman.

Larry was a fun loving- happy go lucky guy. He enjoyed making people laugh (a real jokester) and was generous and loving. He loved music and always ready to dance. Famliy was an important factor in his life. He truly enjoyed spring/ summer cook-outs and was a master chef (a great cook).

 

Larry leaves with love to cherish his memories, three daughters Kia Harvey, LaKisha Powers (Richard), and Kimberly Chapman; one brother Thomas Chapman (Sherry) of Newport News; two sisters Evon Whitehead (James) of North Carolina; and Darlene Golden of Texas. He leaves eleven grands, Darneil, Darrell and Darchelle Harvey; Michael and Jazmin Chapman; Kayla Myers, LaVonte', KaVonte' and TraVonte' Chapman and Shalief and Shalice Myers. He leaves four great grands and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Larry was loved by many!

 

A viewing will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.

 

Services with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia by Dr. Christopher C. Carter, Sr.

 

Per request of the family interment will be private.

 

It is the desire of the Chapman family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

 

The family of the late Mr. Larry Von Dwight Chapman has entrusted his final care to the staff of C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
