Mr. Kevin Spriggs Obituary

Kevin McLaren Spriggs, affectionately known as “Keeb, “Keev,” “That Guy,” “Word,” and “Sporty,” peacefully departed this life on March 6, 2025. Born on August 7, 1957, to the late George and Estella Spriggs, Keeb was the beloved twin brother of Karen “Michie” Yeo. He received his early education in the Mathews County School System and later furthered his studies through Job Corps. At an early age, Keeb was baptized at his family church Zion Baptist Church. His favorite was Acts 2:38.

Keeb married the late Phyllis A. LaSalle, and from their union, they were blessed with three sons: Aaron LaSalle, Kevin LaSalle, and Jared LaSalle. He worked diligently for many years with Zapata Haynie Corporation before returning home to Mathews County. Keeb deeply cherished his family and friends. His warm and friendly nature meant he never met a stranger. A true lover of the water, he found peace and joy in fishing, one of his favorite pastimes. His bond with his twin sister, Michie, was unbreakable, and together they shared countless cherished memories. Like his beloved mother, affectionately known as Mama Neat, Keeb had a gift for cooking. He took pride in sharing his culinary creations, often posting his dishes on Facebook under the title “Keeb’s Kitchen.”

Later in life, Keeb found love and companionship with his partner, Jacqueline “Jackie” Brown. Together, they shared 17 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.  He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Cherishing his memory are his beloved sons, Kevin LaSalle and Jared LaSalle; his grandsons, Aaron K. LaSalle, Jr. and Achilles K. LaSalle; and his granddaughters, Ariana LaSalle Provost (Joshua), Alaysha LaSalle, Alyssa LaSalle, and Mya LaSalle.

He is also survived by his siblings: Yonnie Spriggs, Barney Spriggs (Phyllis), Karen SpriggsYeo, Lillie Spriggs, Charles Spriggs (Stephanie), and Mary Schaffer (John). Each of them carries treasured memories of the bond they shared with Keeb. Keeb was joyfully welcomed into eternity by those who went before him: his father, Mr. George O. Spriggs, Jr.; his mother, Estella A. Spriggs; his wife, Phyllis A. LaSalle; his son, Aaron K. LaSalle; and his brother, Donnie O. Spriggs (Bea).

In addition to his immediate family, Keeb is fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends. His kindness, humor, and beautiful spirit left a mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Keeb was deeply loved by many throughout the community and will be truly missed.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,
