Mr. Karl Darden transitioned on Friday, March 19, 2021 in Newport News, Virginia.
Mr. Karl Darden entered this world with twin sister, Karen, on May 23, 1964. Born to Sarah and Nathaniel Darden he was one of eight children.
Affectionately known as “Kar-Kar” he was always the life of the party. His larger than life personality and caring, fun-loving nature really made him a joy to be around.
Karl graduated from Warwick High School in 1982. He went on to work odd jobs before finding his place at the Newport News Shipyard where he worked for over 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his mother Sarah and father Nathaniel Darden, brother Glenwood Darden Sr and sister Deborah Austin.
Karl leaves to cherish his beautiful memories daughter Kendal Fonville and son Dejarvis Smith Sr. Siblings Shirley Darden (William), Jerry Darden, Mark Darden, twin sister Karen Owens, and Theresa Perry (Wendell), six grandchildren Maileik Sykes, Arihanna Goodwin, Kameron Faltz, Dejarvis Smith Jr, Mykell Smith, and Elijah Smith. Seven nephews Alonzo, Edward, Diaquan, Glenwood Jr., Dwuane, Diogenes, and Darryl. Four nieces Shawanda, Keyante, Chanel, and Natasha. A special friend Phyllis Perry, and a host of great nieces and great nephews, and one great great niece.
He was a great father, brother, uncle, and friend and he will truly be missed.
Viewing for Mr. Darden will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
Services for Mr. Darden are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Restoration & Faith Ministry, 2114 Wickham Avenue, Newport News, Virginia 23607 with Pastor Wendell Perry presiding.
