Mr. Junious Greene Obituary

Mr. Junious James Madison Greene, age 79, peacefully transitioned on February 18, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on May 20, 1946, he was the oldest of eight siblings and beloved son of the late Junious James Green and Mary Lee Green.

A proud graduate of Carver High School in Newport News, Virginia, Class of 1964, Junious carried with him the values of hard work, integrity, and dedication throughout his life. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He served honorably until his discharge, exemplifying discipline, and commitment to duty.

Junious began his professional career at Chase Bag Company in Newport News, Virginia. He later dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Sheraton Inn Coliseum, where he retired as Lead Maintenance Technician. In this role, he oversaw on-site maintenance operations, supervised staff, managed preventative maintenance schedules, and performed skilled work in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry. His strong work ethic and technical expertise earned him the respect of colleagues and leadership alike.

In 1966, Junious married the love of his life, Audry A. Gore. Their union was one of devotion and companionship. He was also a proud father to his son, Deric M. Greene, who brought him immense joy, and his great niece, Nina Robinson.

Junious was preceded in death by his parents, Junious J. and Mary L. Green; two sisters, Elizabeth J. Parker, and Delores A. Brown; and one brother, Bernard W. Greene.

Junious, affectionately known as ‘Bud,’ was followed in death four days later by his only child, Deric M. Greene, Ph.D., who also peacefully transitioned.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Audry A. Greene; two brothers, Edward L. Green (Patricia) of Clinton, MD, and Ernest L. Green of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Patricia G. Braxton (James) and Brenda R. Darcus (Philip) of Hampton, VA; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Greene of Largo, FL, and Reverend DeVeria Gore of Yorktown, VA; two grandsons, Nathan Robinson and Nicholas Bouyer; one granddaughter, Sahra Robinson; four nieces; three nephews; great nieces; great nephews, and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever remember his quiet strength, steady presence, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

It is the desire of the Greene family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The family of Mr. Junious Greene has entrusted his final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
