Mr. Julius Lamont Council made his grand entrance into this world on January 30th, 1983 at Hampton General hospital in Hampton, Virginia.
Julius accepted Christ into his life at a very young age and his faith was an essential part of his everyday life.
Julius was a reserved child in his adolescent years; his participation in football and Upward Bound College Preparatory Program helped him get out of his comfort zone and enabled him to gain lifelong friendships. Everyone who knew him then, and now, can attest to how much he filled up a room with his light and laughter.
He received his education in the Newport News Public School System. After completing high school, he attended Elizabeth City State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science. While a student there, he was able to showcase his advance knowledge of computers and security systems as he created a new security system for the brand-new dorms on campus. This landed him his first job in Information Technology.
His education and professional experience didn’t stop there. He went on to receive a master’s in Management Information Systems from Strayer University in 2009. This allowed him to secure “various leadership positions in Information Security. He was also a professor and taught cyber security, mathematics and information technology courses at the college level. His dedication to his craft was also reflected in his work outside of his profession. Julius was eager to help his family and friends learn more about the IT industry and even helped many secure jobs in the field. Julius was a man of the community. He devoted countless hours volunteering as a board member for the 1st and Goal Foundation, an organization that provides inner—city youth with academic and athletic opportunities. He was also a devoted member of the Young Adult Ministry at New Life Church, where he was on the forefront of developing the church’s website where important information and services were streamed.
Julius you was a “Dapper Dan” of sorts who was rarely seen not wearing bright colors and a bow tie. According to him, “real men wear bow ties”. He was known to out-dress everyone, had a profound love for comic books, wrestling, and a deep passion for computers and technology.
Truly a “Classic Man”, Julius will always be remembered as an old soul who loved to get up early in the morning and read the newspaper. He was also known to geek out on all things Batman. To those who love him, he was truly a superhero in his own right.
Julius gained his wings on the morning of Sunday, August 1, 2021 at home surrounded by family and loved ones. He leaves behind to cherish his life and legacy, his loving wife Ashley Council, his parents Julius and Evonne Council, his siblings Jasmine and Jordan Council, his pups Bishop and Cali, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, who will miss him dearly.
If he were here with us today, he would probably smile knowing that the people he loves the most are gathered together to celebrate life, family, and the spirit of unconditional love. He might even tease you for failing to update your phone. All who knew Julius were truly blessed by his presence. It is therefore up to all of us to continue his legacy of love, kindness, compassion, and most of all unwavering faith.
