Mr. Joseph Glenn Coberly Jr., 64, passed away on March 27, 2026. He was born on August 25, 1961. He grew up in Middlesex County before moving to Yorktown with his family, where he made his home. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Dora Brunk. He is survived by his children, Cody Coberly and Haleigh Coberly (Blake Harrington); his former wife, Becky Coberly; and his grandson, Reign Coberly.
Our dad was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. He was the type of person who would pull over to help someone broken down on the side of the road-whether he had time to or not-just because he knew he could help. That's just who he was.He was an incredibly talented mechanic and had a true love for Chevrolets. He could fix just about anything and took pride in it. He also enjoyed welding, fishing, camping, gardening and woodworking-anything that kept his hands busy and let him be outside.
Some of our favorite memories are of him teaching us things. He made sure we knew how to drive, especially how to drive stick, and he was always so proud of that. He was very proud of the vehicles he found and fixed for our first cars. He loved watching us play sports and there was nothing better to him than seeing us win.
He always tried to teach us to look at the glass half full, even if that was something he sometimes struggled with himself.
Being a grandpa meant everything to him. He loved Reign's chunky little hands and the way he would smile at him through the window when he pulled up. He loved playing and talking with him about cars and giving him rides on the mower. Those are moments we will hold onto forever.
Our dad wasn't perfect, and he faced struggles that affected parts of his life and relationships. But no matter what, he never lost his heart. He still showed up for people, still helped when he could, and still loved his family in his own way. We want to give a special thank you to the staff at Bayside of Poquoson Health and Rehab Hospice Care for being there for him and caring for him when he needed it most. It means more to us than we can put into words. He will be deeply missed and always loved.
