Mr. Jarrett Booker Parker, son of Mrs. Joanne Parker transitioned on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Hampton, VA.
Jarrett Booker Parker, aka Lil Head, aka Fire came kicking and screaming into this world on March 3, 1982 in St Barnabas Hospital, Livingston New Jersey.
He was immediately the pride and joy of Sis. Strickland who wanted to adopt him but was resigned to be the babysitter. She subsequently passed the duty to her daughter, Sis. Moore, who along with her children made him a “Prince”. Needless to say he was spoiled rotten and his Mother may have had a (small) hand in the process.
He attended Union Avenue Elementary School (WHICH HE HATED), Irvington High School (WHICH HE HATED) and much to everybody’s surprise talked about getting his GED (WHICH HE DID). Unfortunately he became lost to the streets and believed those that told him tales of getting rich doing it their way but they forgot to tell him that there was a price to be paid.
So he paid the price and paid the price and paid the price. You see, he was a loyal friend and if he believed you to be his friend then it was “WHATEVER”. But one day his thinking started to change. He started to think about his miserable (his word) life. He finally wanted to be saved. He went to church, read his bible and tried not to imbibe the intoxicants of this world. He even started applying for jobs.
Constantly on his mind was building up his credit so he got a secured credit card. “Mr. Know It All” attended mandated classes which were once a joke to him. We believe and know that he was trying to go a different way. Old friends had to go and that’s a lesson he may not have learned.
He was Baby Brother to Damon who loved him. He was beloved by his mother when all others didn’t understand him and he loved her too. His “other” mother, Sis. Moore, and Miss Betty were adored and cherished by him. Last but not least he treasured his other brothers and sisters, Tommy, Timothy, Lisa, Tony and Lori. Jarrett was also a father. To those that knew him, they couldn’t imagine him being someone’s Dad. He loved his son Jeremiah and parented in the best way he knew how which was to buy him things and take him to SKY Zone.
He is preceded in death by his Beloved Mama Ola, grandfather-Nathaniel and Aunt-Natalie. Left to mourn his loss and celebrate his life are his son-Jeremiah, mother-Joanne, brother-Damon, nephew-Khalif Samad, aunts-Sherry, Kayren and Marjorie, uncles-David and Terrence, other mother-Sis. Moore, other siblings-Tommy, Timmy, Tonya, Tony and Lori, father-Errol (which he recently reconnected with) and a whole host of relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held noon Friday, April 26, 2019 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2700 Parish Ave, Newport News, VA, 23607.
It is the desire of the Parker family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
