Mr. James Sessoms

Mr. James Edward Sessoms, Jr. affectionately known as “Tommie,” transitioned to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at his home. James was born on April 21, 1944 to the late James Edward and Mary Ruth Sessoms in Hertford County, North Carolina.

To his union were born four sons: James Edward Sessoms “Tommie,” John Robert (Pecolia) Sessoms, Phillip Norman (Sallie) Sessoms, and Wayne Sessoms (deceased). James attended R. L. Vann School.

James married Beulah Harrell and to this union, three children were born. His oldest, and only son, Kenneth Earl (Charmaine) Sessoms and to this union two children were born: Kenneth Earl Sessoms, Jr. (deceased) and Jazmine Sessoms Tobias. James’ oldest daughter is Cassandra Dee Sessoms (Eddie Lee Thomas-deceased) and to this union two children were born: Shamanise Thomas and Isaiah Thomas. James’ youngest daughter is Kim Machell Sessoms Herndon “Rooster” has three children: Robert M. Herndon, Jr., Lamar O. Herndon, and Takeela L. Herndon “Jo-Jo.” James has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Phillip and Sallie Sessoms have three children: Phillip D. Sessoms, Doniece Sessoms, and April (Larry) Gordon. John (Pecolia) Sessoms have two children: Robert Sessoms and Adrian Sessoms. James has a host of cousins and friends.

James worked most of his life in construction work to provide for his family whom he adored throughout his life
