Mr. James Lenious Holloway, Jr., 82, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Born on March 15, 1943, in Newport News, Virginia, he was the son of the late James Lenious Holloway, Sr. and Berdia Mae Gregory Holloway.
Affectionately known as “Jr.,” he was educated in the Newport News Public School System, attending Booker T. Washington Elementary and Huntington High School. He went on to work as a painter at Riverside Hospital in Newport News and later served as a custodian for Newport News Public Schools.
In his personal time, Jr. enjoyed the outdoors, particularly deer hunting, proudly displaying several deer heads in his den. He also had a deep passion for cars and car racing—interests that brought him much joy throughout his life.
Jr. leaves to cherish his memory of his beloved and devoted wife, Dora Holloway; three sons, Andre, Brian, and Demonte; grandchildren, Tyrek, Mark, Karter, Kannon, Tyrel, Duante, and Jaylen; and great-grandchildren, London, Gabriel, and Grayson. He is also survived by two brothers, Daniel and Wendell, and one sister, Belinda Gibson (Vernon); one uncle, Joseph Powell (Barbara); his longtime friend, Irving Major; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
Jr. will be remembered for his quiet strength, love of family, and unwavering passion for the things he enjoyed most in life.
