Mr. Herbert Clark

Mr. Herbert Wendell Clark, AKA “Wendell”, 85, was born on January 6, 1941 to loving parents Willie Clark and Mamie Clark. He answered God’s call and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 26, 2026

Herbert was born in Halifax, North Carolina. He later moved to Newport News, VA and went to Huntington High School.  He began his career at International Longshoremen’s until he retired. 

He married his wife, Fannie Clark and they were together for over 50 years.  Herbert was known for being quiet and loved to spend time with his family. Everyone who knew him knows his favorite football team was the Washington Redskins. He later grew to love being a Magician and called himself “Blindman the Magic man”. He loved doing magic shows at parties and every family cookouts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Clark and Mamie Clark, son, William Draughan, brother and sisters, James Clark, Carrie Bryant, Daisy Johnson, Prince Clark, Willie Clark, Jr., Matthew Clark, Jimmie Clark.

Herbert leaves to cherish memory, his loving wife Fannie Clark; three sons, Ricky Draughan (Sharon) Newport News, VA, Donald Draughan (Chaquilla) Hampton, VA, Jerry Draughan (DeNeen) Newport News, VA; two daughters, Debra Bell, Newport News, VA and Gloria Draughan, Newport News, VA; three sisters,  Deaconess Fannie Lassiter, Newport News, VA, Virgieanne Lassiter, Hampton, VA, Rev. Rosa Clark, Landover, MD and Elder Ann Shaw, Hampton, VA.  He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.

It is the desire of the Clark family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The family of Mr. Herbert Clark has entrusted his final care to C.C. Carter Funeral Home.
