Mr. Glenn Dale, Sr. Obituary

Glenn Allen Dale Sr. departed this earthly life on May 12, 2021, with his wife and daughter by his side.

Glenn was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to everyone that knew him.

Glenn was born on April 28, 1953 to the late Benjamin Coty and Lillian Wynne Dale in Newport News, Virginia.

Glenn accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, Newport News, Virginia.

Glenn or “Bubbie” as he was affectionately called by his parents, siblings and family and friends in Newport News, Virginia.  He always had a warm smile, a great sense of humor, a kind heart, and a positive attitude and helping hand when it came to those in need.  He was an honor graduate of Newport News High School Class of 1971 and a member of the Marching and Concert Band.

Glenn worked at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (Northrop Grumman) about 30 years, as a X18 welder and later as an X18 supervisor.  He owned and operated “Dale City Auto Repair Shop”.  Glenn was an incredibly talented musician and played the Hammond B3 Organ in his father’s band, Ben Dale and the Co-ops, at the age of 16.  Many times, people would ask Ben who the organist was, and he would proudly answer, “That’s my son!”.  Glenn loved all music, especially jazz.  Glenn also loved and enjoyed working, racing and restoring old cars.  His favorite car was his 1935 Plymouth.  Glenn also enjoyed watching old westerns, going to Virginia Beach to sit and walk on the Boardwalk along with going to the pier, watching boats and reading car magazines.

Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin Coty and Lillian Wynne Dale, Teresa Adele Dale (sister), Kaiden Elliott (grandson), and Lendora Dale (first wife).

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Alfreda Elliott-Dale, his children:  Anicetria (Roderick) Madison, Natasha, Glenda (Andrew) Evans, Glenn Dale Jr., Ricky Scott Jr., and his siblings; Anita Womack, Antoinette (Myron) Moore, Beverly Dale, Kevin (Lenese) Dale, and Suzette Dale-Romley.  Glenn had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, a niece and great nephew, cousins, in-laws, family and friends.
