Mr. George Brown was born in Birmingham, Alabama to George Henry and Eloise Brown. He attended Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama where he participated in the marching band for four years. He graduated in 1953 and then served in the U.S. Army for five years. George worked for the U.S. Government for twenty-six years. He also worked at the Virginia State School as a security guard from 1989-2009. George coached little league football for four years. A lot of the young men he coached would thank him for his leadership and wise advice whenever they saw him around Hampton.
Preceding him in death was the love of his life, Magdalene H. Brown, his parents: George Henry and Eloise Brown, brothers: Charles Collins, Dewey Jones and Joe Jones.
George is survived by children: Stanley Hunt, Anita Ricks, Sophia Vaughan, George Brown, Jr., Anthony Brown, son-in law William Ricks and daughter-in-law Elaine Brown, grandchildren: Takisha Ricks, Raymond Ricks, Jr., Kareem Brown, George Brown, III, Brandon Ricks, Kameron Brown and Shakira Lee. Also, his niece Diane Fort, nine great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Brother-in-laws Paul Ellis and Lorenzo Hunt. Sister-in-laws Katherine Mobley, Yvonne Ellis, Beatrice Hunt and Edna Hunt. A host of nieces and nephews. Devoted friends: Dot Rainey, Vickie Mathis, Dennis Mathis, Trina Gallop and Curtis Parker.
