Mr. Gary Lee Collins

Mr. Gary Lee Collins, 65, peacefully departed his earthly life on April 16 2023, surrounded by loved ones.  He was born in Beaufort County, NC, on April 10, 1958, to Wilbert Lee Collins(who predeceased him) and Willia M. Collins.  

Raised in Norfolk, VA, Gary graduated in 1976 from Norview High School, and he attended Norfolk State University before launching a career as an inside machinist at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.  He later retired from a twenty-year supervisory position at WIS International.

A devout man, Gary was baptized at Second Calvary Baptist Church (Norfolk), and he continued his Christian journey at Faith Deliverance Baptist Church (Newport News), serving the Usher Ministry (and elected as President).

Gary loved all genres of music; he enjoyed extensive travel (especially on the water).  Often described as a Quiet Storm, he was laid back and funny, very calm and patient.  He loved his family dearly, and he was very supportive of education for the youth.  Once a diehard Atlanta Falcons fan, he switched his loyalties to the Philadelphia Eagles when Michael Vick was traded (bandwagon). 

Gary is survived by his mother Mrs. Willia M. Collins; sisters Claudette Shelton, Glenda Collins, and Sherry Blackwell; brother Randall Collins; devoted friend Samuel L. Johnson; a host of loving nieces and nephews; and many loyal friends. 

It is the desire of the Collins family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
