Mr. Gary Brown Obituary

The angel of heaven slipped in and carried one of their own to receive his wings on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Riverside Medical Hospital in Newport News VA.Following his illness, Gary lost a brave battle and went home.

Gary Lamont Brown was born March 24, 1974 as an only child to the late Clarence

"Peter" 'Showalter and Phyllis Brown Garner. He was predeceased by six Aunts-Pauline Wilkins, Betty Ann Brown, Fandra "Paps" Williams, Zeola "Zeke", Gladys "Jenny" and Alberta "Bert" Showalter, three Uncles-Nathaniel "Lilbit", James and Richard Brown.

Gary was born in Harlem Hospital in New York City. At a young age, his mother brought him to Virginia to live with his maternal grandparents where he attended school in Southampton County. During Gary's stay in Virginia he and his cousin Towanda Brown became close like brother and sister. Over the years, he also became close with is cousins Jeffrey Williams and Khadduri "Trez" Brown. Gary had 2 special childhood friends that he cherished and remained friends with until his death. (Roosevelt "Velt" Wynn and Tony Pope). 

Gary's memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of his mother, Phyllis Brown Garner, his six Aunts: Ola Poole, Louvenia "Ludee" Williams, Georgia  "Duck" Showalter, Debra "Debbie" Morris, Helen Brown and Marcellette Wiggins.  His three Uncles: Jacky Brown, Joe Brown and Michael Showalter: a special cousin, Kennedy Deloatch and a host of other cousins, family and friends.

It is the desire of the Brown  family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers

The family of  Mr. Gary Brown  has entrusted his final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
