Mr. Freeman Tyrone Terry Evans peacefully entered eternal rest on February 24, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on August 27, 1949, he was the eldest child of the late Ruth E. Settles.
A graduate of Hampton Public Schools, Freeman began his career through the Newport News Shipyard Apprentice Program before dedicating more than 30 years as a Train Conductor with CSX Railroad. He was gifted with his hands, building homes throughout Hampton Roads and drafting blueprints with pride.
Beyond his career achievements, Freeman lived life with enthusiasm and joy. He loved playing cards and cherished the fellowship that came with it. Golf was another passion, and he found great pleasure spending time on the course. In his later years, he added bingo to his list of favorite pastimes, enjoying the laughter and lighthearted camaraderie it brought. Although he loved to travel, his greatest happiness came from exploring and creating memories with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his son TreVor, and his granddaughter Journey. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lana Crisman Terry; his daughters, Courtney (Nathaniel “Chip”) Laws, Shawnna (Terry) Evans, and Tarenn (Jermar “J-Mo”) Robinson; his grandchildren Taylor, Terrick, Dominique, Jasmine (Nathan), Tariq, Jaelun, Ezure, Jaidah, Major, and Mahlani; eleven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Roderick (Gwen) Terry and Carl (Shannon) Watson, and Deborah Jones; his eldest maternal cousin Estelle Baker; his paternal aunt, Betty Brown, and a host of extended family and friends.
His legacy of love, strength, and dedication to family will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.
