Mr. Eric Ellis Sr.

It is with deep sorrow and enduring love that we announce the passing of Eric Charles Ellis Sr., who departed this life peacefully on 07/20/2025. Eric was a beloved father, devoted grandfather, proud veteran, and loyal friend whose memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Eric answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, where he honorably served for ten years from 1986 to 1996, including time in active war. His dedication, strength, and resilience exemplified the highest ideals of service and sacrifice.

Following his military career, Eric pursued his passion for technology and entrepreneurship by founding his own IT company, IT Alacarte, which he successfully operated for 13 years. His leadership, innovation, and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on all those he worked with.

In later years, Eric relocated to Florida, where he found a second family among his colleagues at Avalon Healthcare. He loved his work and deeply valued the camaraderie, purpose, and joy he found with his “awesome team,” who became an extended part of his life and legacy.

Above all, Eric was a family man. He was a loving father to his three children: Ivory Ellis, Eric Ellis Jr., and Jonelle Ellis. His greatest pride was his role as “Grandpa,” cherished by his grandchildren: Christian Ellis, Zoie Woodard, Alexander Dare, and Lupita Rocha. He poured wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love into each generation.

Eric was known for his kind spirit, quick wit, and the genuine warmth he extended to everyone he met. Whether through his service, his work, or his relationships, he touched countless lives and will be remembered with gratitude and love.

Eric's legacy will live on through the lives he enriched and the memories he leaves behind. He was loved by all—and will be missed by many.

 Military honors for Mr. Ellis will be haled after the service Monday, in the Chapel.
