Elbert P. Watson Sr. was granted his wings on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at his home in Newport News, Virginia. Big Watt, as he was known by many, was born February 24, 1955 to the late Mr. Joseph and Margie R. Watson in Stuttgart, Germany.
Mr. Watson was formerly educated in the Newport News Public School System. He later earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in the field of Early Childhood Education. Elbert served his country with pride in the United States Navy for 10 years. Following his discharge from the Navy he went on to work in the shipyard for many years as a welder.
He had a passion for doing cooking and showing his barbering skills. Amongst his hobbies he loved his family and friends with his whole heart.
Along with his parents Mr. Joseph and Margie Watson, Elbert was also proceeded in death by his great – grandmother, Annie Mae Johnson; two nephews, Derrick Watson and Dominico Green; one niece Taquilla Diaz, and one great – nephew, Devin Bowels.
Elbert leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Deborah Riley; children, his only birth son Elbert P. Watson Jr., who was conceived with Mrs. Vanessa Boothe, A'Dela Jones and Jonathan Brayboy; brother, Albert Watson; three sisters, Vivian Johnson, Josette Watson and Kia Watson; Twelve grandchildren, Ten great – grandchildren; special friends Boo-Boo, LD, David Burton and Fast Larry Debreaux; special lady friend Rochelle Aytch; and a host of family and friends
Viewing for Mr. Elbert Paul Watson will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at C. C. Carter Funeral Home, 3314 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607.
Funeral Service for Mr. Elbert Paul Watson will begin at 11:00 A.M. at C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
Internment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
