Mr. Edward Major Lovette was born on September 28, 1972, in Chicago, Illinois, to Fred Lovett and Gladys Childs. At a young age, he moved to Virginia with his mother and stayed with his beloved grandmother, Eula Childs, while his mom prepared a home for them in Marshall Courts. It was there Edward grew up and earned the nickname so many came to know him by: “Big Draws.”
He attended Carver Elementary, Huntington Middle School, and Warwick High School, where he discovered his love for football—a passion he carried throughout his life. A devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Edward cheered on his team with unwavering enthusiasm.
Edward worked in construction for a time and later joined Chesapeake Recycling. Eventually, he moved to Maryland to live with his cherished aunt, Loretta Childs, who became like a second mother to him after the passing of his mom, Gladys, on December 9, 2003. Their bond was deep and filled with love.
On June 9, 2025, Edward took his final breath, leaving behind his loving aunt Loretta, a large and devoted family of cousins, and many dear friends. He was remembered for his booming laughter, his generous heart, and his unforgettable sense of humor. A gentle giant in every way, Edward brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.
He is now reunited in heaven with his mother, Gladys, who welcomed him with open arms. Though he is gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts. He is deeply missed and forever loved.
It is the desire of the Lovette family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
The family of Mr. Edward Lovette has entrusted his final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
