Ozzie was born August 21, 1983 in Williamsburg, VA to the late Edward Osgood Gregory Sr. and Linda Gregory Rascoe. With a joyful heart, Ozzie joined Smithfield Baptist Church at early age under the stewardship of Rev. Robert Beckham. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Sr., his paternal grandparents, George and Estelle Gregory, his maternal grandparents, Henry and Esther Witherspoon, and his favorite Auntie, Barbara Shema Gregory. Ozzie departed this life at his home in Gloucester, VA on April 26th 2023 at the age of 39.
Ozzie graduated from Gloucester High School in 2001 and attended Keys Business College, of Newport News, VA with a concentration in Business Management. Ozzie was employed with U.S. Lawns of Newport News, VA as a Chemical Technician Specialist. On most weekends, he dedicated his time to the youth in the community as a official referee for the Hampton Roads Youth Football League.
On November 12, 2012, Ozzie and Erica Blacken were joined in matrimony at the Tri-County Hunt Club in Shacklefords, VA. From this union four beautiful children were created Charles Blacken (16),Shema Gregory (11), and twins Sanora Gregory (10), and Edward Gregory III (10). Alongside his loving children, Ozzie leaves to cherish his memories: his mother Linda Gregory Rascoe (Louis) of Gloucester, VA, two sisters: Kendra (Dwayne) of Raleigh,NC, Monique of Bowie, MD, one nephew, Donovan of Raleigh, NC, four nieces: Alexandria and Camille of Bowie,MD, and Cheyenne and Zoey of Enfield, NC, one great-niece Chloe of Raleigh,NC and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Ozzie was a proud father and ever present force in his children’s lives. He loved them beyond any earthly concept of space and time. His loving spirit will live on through each of them as they continue to grow and reflect.
Ozzie was also a lover of all things outdoors. He followed in his father’s footsteps with a genuine passion for gardening and landscaping. Throughout the family, Ozzie was also known for his love of grilling. Any day was a perfect day to throw a few packs of hotdogs, hamburgers, and chicken wings over some hot charcoals and relax with family and friends.Mr. Edward O.
